Alongside Wildlife and Countryside Link, we have produced a briefing explaining why all planning authorities should have climate and nature statutory duties

At Climate Emergency UK we have been calling for a fully-funded statutory duty on climate action for local authorities in England and Northern Ireland (Scottish and Welsh councils already have some form of climate duties).

Alongside Wildlife & Countryside Link, we have produced a briefing for the Planning & Infrastructure Bill explaining explaining why all planning authorities should have climate and strengthened nature statutory duties.

There has been strong support for climate and nature climate statutory duties from across the climate and nature sector and residents groups. Co-signing the briefing are Friends of the Earth, UK100, Wild Card, Zero Hour, South East Climate Alliance, Hampshire Climate Action Network, Climate Action Network West Midlands Climate Action Leeds, Dorset Climate Action Network.

You can view, and download, our briefing below.

Update: This briefing was mentioned twice in the second reading debate of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill in the House of Commons. You can view the mentions here.
