Councils possess significant influence over a third of UK emissions in their areas. However, with limited funding and resources we know it can be hard to know what exactly can be done. Find out below the resources we have available for councils to deliver the necessary climate action.

Right of Reply 2025

On 11th November 2024, the second stage of the marking process for the 2025 Council Climate Action Scorecards opens, the Right of Reply.

What is the Right of Reply?
All councils in the UK are sent their first mark for all questions marked by volunteer research and questions marked by FOI requests to review. Councils can see which questions had received marks, but they can’t see individual scores for questions or their overall score. All councils are given a right of reply. Councils have five weeks to respond. In 2023, 74% of all UK councils responded to the Right of Reply.

Councils  will have received emails with information about how to respond to the Right of Reply.

The Right of Reply opens on 11th November and closes on 16th December 2024. As far as possible we are not expecting any late responses. However, if councils need an extension in order to complete the response by 10th January 2024, we will charge a late submission fee. The late submission fee is £70 to cover admin costs.

If you are a council and wish to submit a late Right of Reply, please click on the link below to pay. Or, contact right-of-reply@climateemergency.uk if you require an invoice to make a purchase.
